Sleeping with or without underwear is a very individual thing. Some people prefer sleeping without underwear while others don't feel complete without the security of panties or boxers. Why Sleep Without It? 

Doctors and experts state that it is more beneficial for women to sleep without panties. The vaginal area is damp, dark, and warm. It is an ideal environment for yeast and bacteria to grow. Sleeping with panties on may increase your risk of getting a yeast infection or other vaginal problems. 

Furthermore, the fabric of your panties might also cause irritation and itchiness on your skin, especially the fold area around your genitals.

Sleeping without underwear gives your sensitive areas time to breathe.

As for the bra, there is no need to wear a bra to bed unless you have large breasts that need the support. In this case, you will want a comfortable sports bra with a wide back, unformed cups and wide straps over your shoulders.

Bras can create chafing on the skin around your breast and armpit and wearing it to bed will not allow your skin to rest. 

Can You Sleep Wearing It Anyway?

Regardless, some people are more comfortable sleeping with a bra and/or panties. It is still perfectly okay to sleep with your panties on as long as you have no vaginal problem, irritation, or itchiness. Sleeping with your bra on is fine too. Here are some tips for sleeping with underwear:

  • Use lightweight panties made of breathable material such as cotton to avoid dampness.
  • Wear the underwear that fits well to avoid stress to your skin.
  • Put on a clean pair of underwear before bed..
  • Use a bra without underwire, such as a sports bra, to make it easier for your skin to breathe and relax.
